Hello, there! First, I LOVE your blog! Second, my local news station has just reported that Comcast has officially issued a $35 a share bid for the 21st Century Fox Corporation thereby setting up a bidding war with Disney. What do you think the chances are of Comcast acquiring the company over Disney, in your opinion? I sincerely hope that they don't because as someone who works in Telecommunications, I can unequivocally state that Comcast is horrible so I'm worried about this development.
Thank you! Comcast have offered $65 billion cash. Disney’s current offer is $52 billion in stock as well as paying off $13 billion debt that Fox owed, which most reports seem to forget. So the offers are actually quite similar in value. It’s still Disney’s deal to lose. With the Comcast cash deal the FOX shareholders would have to pay a huge tax fee, but with the Disney stock deal they would not, and the stock could rise in value, plus they would have a say in Disney shareholder meetings. So overall, the Disney offer is still much better and I think it’s much more likely that they will go with Disney but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

If Disney owns Fox are we to assume the 6 new films they’re planning will fall under the MCU fold or are at least being chosen under Feige’s supervision?
No. Disney don’t own Fox yet, and they won’t until the deal is approved by the government which will be in late 2019 at the earliest. Fox have said that they will continue to develop Marvel movies until the deal is finalised because they need to be prepared for the chance that the deal isn’t approved or that it takes longer than expected. If that happened and they had no movies ready they would be screwed. Disney and Marvel have zero say in what these FOX movies will be. However, it seems unlikely the deal will be rejected and although Fox are developing movies for 2020 and beyond, the chances of them all actually getting made are slim.
